Perle Systems is pleased to announce the introduction of our new IOPRINT+ Family of Ethernet Print Servers. This complete range of robust print servers includes the:
| IOPRlNT+ | Two parallel and one serial ports. The parent of the range was designed to replace the Chase lOPRINT2 with better features and a more competitive price. |
| IOPRINT+ Jr | With one parallel port. The "baby" of the family is an upgraded version of tbe IOPRINT Jr-Trio. |
| lOPRINT+ FAST | Three high speed parallel ports. Users now have a simple, low cost upgrade path to Fast (lOOMB) Ethernet while protecting long term investment. |
| FAQ | Common Questions and Answers regarding the IOPRINT+ Family of Ethernet Print Servers |
All print servers in the lOPRlNT+ Family support all major Operating Systems. These extremely reliable and flexible print servers offer a full range of features including:
Goodbye IOPRINT2 Hello IOPRINT+
Immediately, the lOPRlNT2 four port Ethernet Print Server is to be replaced by the IOPRINT+, a new 2 parallel and 1 serial port Ethernet Print Server. This strategic move allows Chase to better meet the requirernents set our by our customers and channel regarding price and performance.
Our research indcated that the market is demanding greater value tor the number of ports provided in print server. In reducing the number ports we have significantly reduced the cost per port.

Multi-protocol support provides seamless printing for all major network environments including Windows NT, Windows 95, peer-to-peer printing for Windows 3.11, NetWare 4.0 (including NDS and Bindery), OS/2, LAN Server, MAC and all Major UNIX Operating Systems.
Common IOPRINT+ Family Questions & Answers
Why use a Print Server?
- Many people are able to share printers that are directly connected to the network, thus it is very cost effective.
- Print Servers provide multi-plafform support in mixed environments. People using Windows, Novell, UNIX or Mac in the same office can all print to the same printer.
- One printer connected to a network is easy to manage.
- Parallel Print Servers support high speed printing.
- A Print Server occupies a small space and allows you to place the printer in the most convenient location in the office.
Do you support Fast (100MB) Ethernet?
The IOPRINT+ FAST is 10/100MB Ethernet Print Server. This gives you future investment protection. When your company decides to migrate from 10MB Ethernet to 100MB Ethernet, you will not need a new Print Server. The IOPRINT+ FAST is auto-sensing and will switch over on its own with no need for re-configuration.
How does the IOPRINT Family work with NetBEUI?
The IOPRINT+, IOPRINT+ Jr and IOPRINT+ FAST support SMB over NetBEUl on Parallel 1. This means you do not need to configure TCP/IP in a Windows environment, which can be tricky at times. On Parallel 2 and/or 3 you have proprietary Peer-To-Peer (PTP) protocols. PTP over TCP/IP and PTP over NetBEUI allow Windows 3.11/95/NT users to directly print jobs from a pure TCP/IP network. Competitors may offer some software packages with the same function as our PTP drivers. however they will charge according to user number from $199.00 US.
Does the IOPRINT+ Family have any accreditations?
Yes, the IOPRINT+ Family is certified with Novell's "Yes Tested and Approved" Other 100MB print servers are not at the moment.
What is bi-directional printing and what are the benefits?
There are two major benefits to bi-directional printing. The print servers can communicate with bi-directional printers and give the printer's status to the users. This means users will know if the printer is out of paper, paper jam, etc... Also the printing speed is faster than the unidirectional print server.
What is full and half duplex?
Full duplex and half-duplex are used for the 100MB network. It is supported according, to the hub. If the hub supports full-duplex, IOPRINT+ FAST can be operated in full-duplex mode and the network speed is doubled to 200Mbps. Half-duplex is the default setting which supports 100MB network speed.
