Development Environment for Unix and Windows

ProvideX is a powerful Application Development System that will give you, the developer, the ability to quickly and easily transform your existing legacy code into a suite of applications that will both visually and functionally put you light years ahead of your competition

General Description

ProvideX includes a Powerful Core Logic toolset (including the highly advanced ProvideX business basic language), a Graphical Object Oriented toolset (NOMADS II), a high performance native database and access to the new state of the art technologies (ODBC, DDE, VBX's etc.).

Core Logic Toolset

The mainstay of the Core Logic Toolset is the highly advanced ProvideX Business Basic language that has evolved from the original 3GL Business Basic thus it brings a proven track record in the creation of mission critical applications.

Compatibility

Application Security

Portability

Programs and data files are totally transportable between operating systems with no conversion requirements. Data files and programs can simply be copied and used.

WindX - The Unix GUI Magician

The WindX interface allows ProvideX, while running on a Unix (or other non-graphical host environment), to have full access to the graphical features of Windows. This includes direct access to GUI objects, DDE, the system Clipboard, Multimedia Control Interface, and file system (through the remote file services of WindX).

UNIX and NT Application Server

The ProvideX Application-Server technology for UNIX and Windows NT makes an excellent solution for clients requiring a high-performance application client/server system.

ProvideX Application-Server technology separates the program logic, processing and data management tasks from user-interface processing tasks. All program logic, processing and data management tasks are performed on the application server, and all user interface tasks are performed using a thin client installed on the workstation. Data transmission across the network is minimized as only the commands used to display the current screen and data are sent across the network. Reduced network data transmission per user means that more concurrent network users can be supported using the same network bandwidth and, equally importantly, applications can be run in low bandwidth environments like modem and WAN connections.

ODBC Driver

The ProvideX ODBC Driver will allow you to import data from ProvideX files into third party applications, eg. Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Crystal.

C-Library

The ProvideX file I/O library consists of a series of functions that enable ‘C’ or other language programs to directly read and/or write ProvideX Keyed files. Functions to read, write (add or update), and delete are provided.

The C-Libraries are available for a wide variety of operating environments such as Windows (16 & 32 bit), Unix, and DOS.
